Mary Wong on Covid-19

Coronavirus (Covid-19) is on the top of everyone’s minds today, including those in Toronto Canada. Although it is a virus much like influenza, very little is known about it which leaves many people feeling more than a little anxious. This is especially true of women who are pregnant, or planning to become pregnant in the near future.

Coronavirus, like other viruses, is caused by bacteria that enters the body. Antibiotics are not effective for treatment, however the good news is that while an extremely low number of pregnant women have been affected, those who have been experience only mild symptoms. Covid-19 is transmitted through the air, typically by the mouth, eyes, or nose when touched by hands tainted with the virus. This is why hand washing is so important.

It is important to know that if you are pregnant, Coronavirus cannot be transmitted to your baby via blood. As of now there has been no increase in miscarriages attributed to Covid-19. Women who are concerned about fertility treatments or pregnancy should practice the same safety precautions as everyone else – wash hands often, avoid touching your face, practice social distancing, self isolate, cough into your elbow.

Some of you may have heard that the virus can remain active on various surfaces for a certain period of time such as 72 hours on plastic or stainless steel, etc. While this is important to know, more critical is that we take the necessary precautions to prevent becoming infected. While the media does its best to provide updated, current information concerning Coronavirus, you should also be aware that some outlets dramatize the situation to an extent that incites fear and anxiety. No doubt this pandemic will affect the mental health of countless people as we become more isolated which can result in depression, even panicking. Acupuncture is a natural treatment that not only supports fertility, but significantly reduces anxiety and depression.

At Alive Holistic Health Clinic in Toronto we want you to know that we are here for you, and we believe in building close relationships with our clients. Fertility specialists and primary care physicians around the world are taking essential steps to support your physical and mental/emotional health which may include virtual or phone consultations along with office visits.

Your health and safety is our top priority.. We at ALIVE Holistic Health are currently ironing out kinks to look at ways to serve your needs while adhering to the recommendations set out by the federal government and Ministry of Health. We want to be available to you during what is the most difficult time in recent history. Our goal is to help you enjoy good health and peace of mind.
