It wasn't easy for me to conceive. Before undergoing hormone treatments and laparoscopy, I decided to try acupuncture, homeopathy, as well as continue with my yoga classes. I was so blessed when I conceived so soon after starting acupuncture treatments. Acupuncture not only helped me conceive but also helped me through my difficult pregnancy. I had concerns with bleeding in the first trimester, short cervix and possibility of premature labour. For 7 months I was on bed rest. I also experienced lower back pain during my pregnancy.
I was preparing myself for non medicated labour by using acupuncture. I delivered 10 days after my term a healthy boy and had an active, natural labour without episiotomy even though my son was over 4 kg (9lbs).
Now pregnant with my second child - with my history of short cervix and terrible backache - I am so blessed I found Dr. Mary Wong. I am fully confident in going through my pregnancy with her help, experience, and expertise. Dr. Wong is the most compassionate, concerned and caring doctor that I've encountered. This is something you need the most when you are trying to conceive, achieve a full term pregnancy, and get through postpartum. It is also important for my mind and spirit to know that I am doing everything possible to have a family, a healthy pregnancy, and a child without medication, hormones, or surgery.

I began seeing Mary during a period before my first IVF cycle. My husband and I had suffered through years of infertility, cycle monitoring, and repeated IUI attempts. In preparation for our first IVF cycle I began acupuncture and massage therapy. My name is Dawn and I live in south central Ontario. There aren't many days that go by that I don't look at my 16 month old daughter and think of Mary Wong. After having two early pregnancy miscarriages and being told that after my third more would be done by my 'family' doctor to find out if there was a problem I was fortunate enough to be told about Mary.

I met Mary went I was at my darkest time. I was so depressed and negative and frustrated. From the western medicine side I was diagnosed with:
High FSH resulting in: Very few follicles per cycle, Follicles that would not divide into 8 or more cells, and was diagnosed as perimenopausal
Brown eggs resulting in a diagnosis that I will never get pregnant with own eggs
Chocolate Cysts resulting in cancelled cycles and abdominal pain.
Mary assured me that all of this was fixable. Mary put me on herbs and started on acupuncture. I felt incredible. I felt like I had control of my body again. I felt I was making a difference in how my mind and body would respond to treatment. I had hope. And each week Mary would confirm how much progress I was making. Mary felt I didn’t need IVF treatments and I could get pregnant with Chinese medicine alone but I was too scared and impatient to wait and see.
After months with Mary and A.L.I.V.E treatments we went to the doctor. The doctor did our first round of tests and my husband’s sperm was measured at 5 million that is 5 times what it was at first diagnosis. By our next cycle it was up to 9 million, and the quality and motility improved. The doctors were shocked.
As for me, I never had another cancelled cycle. I never had another chocolate cyst. My FSH was lower, but still borderline, and I was still not producing a lot of eggs but the ones I did produce were healthier. And most of all my eggs were no longer brown!!!
In the summer of 2007, my husband and I conceived our first child. Naturally! No IVF cycle. I am due May 24th of 2008. I credit acupuncture for this (and me and my husband of course). I have had a healthy pregnancy and feel incredibly lucky and grateful. I will continue with acupuncture as it is now part of my life.
